office
of government and commerce introduce new catalist purchasing
framework for the procurement of specialist contractors into
the public sector
 |
OGCbuying.solutions is an Executive Agency of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) in the Treasury. Its aim is to help customers across
the public sector maximise their procurement efficiency and improve
value for money savings. As a leading national procurement agency, |
they source over 500,000 products and services from more than 600 suppliers leveraging the Government's purchasing power to deliver significant savings in time
and cost to customers.
The Specialist Contractors Framework Agreement is one of the new Catalist Framework Agreements developed by Buying Solutions to provide public sector organisations access to specialist contractors
in 4 key categories: Information Technology, Human Resources, Finance & Audit and Project &
Programme Management.
Information Technology encompasses a range of contractors from senior analysts, designers and team leaders to application programmers, database administrators and capacity planners.
Human Resources provides specialist support across a number of HR activities and grades, ranging from qualified HR directors with up to 8 years public sector experience to HR managers, advisors and trainers at less senior levels.
The Finance and Audit category gives public sector customers access to qualified accountants, finance staff and auditors as well as support roles including purchase ledger clerks and finance support staff.
Project and Programme Management offers qualified programme directors and senior programme managers with public sector experience as well as Prince2 accredited project managers and support staff.
In addition to these categories the Specialist Contractors Framework also offers a one stop shop facility which allows customers to procure contractors from any combination of the categories listed and offers a procurement specialism which can be called upon as required.
There is no limit on the value of contract which can be placed. The Frameworks can be used whether the requirement is for a single small project or a large and on-going one. Smaller organisations often do not have the internal resources to fully staff projects and programmes and this framework is designed to allow contractors to be appointed as quickly as possible to meet business needs.
